Independent Study 2

Literal

“I, Imelda Martinez, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.” I took an online astronomy course on Brigham Young University. The purpose of this online course was to comprehend the type of material an astronomy teacher would teach at a high school level. Moreover, the material helps me be better prepared and understand my college classes at service learning. The course consisted of number of pages per topic in a lesson and there were a total of eight lessons. After I finish a lesson, I was assessed of what I have learned throughout each lesson. The test contains about forty questions and is not all multiple choices.

Interpretive

My independent task two clearly shows 30 hours of work. It is not only about reading the astronomy topics, but understanding it too. It helped me have a good amount of knowledge to comprehend my astronomy classes for service learning. I am able to grade college test that are not multiple choice for the fact that I know the subject very well now. The online course would usually last a whole semester in high school, but I put all my effort to be finish in one month. Even though I have yet to take my final, I manage to finish seven lessons, which is very difficult to do.

Applied

This independent task has helped me answer my EQ because it has proven my three answers are correct. To begin, in this course I was not taught by an instructor face to face, but rather online (Different teaching method). I was the student and I could say that this teaching method was good because it consisted of reading, assessments, and visuals. An assessment is the second answer for my EQ. I took many assessments and it showed me what I understood and what I needed more help with. Finally, my third answer is having an objective. By the end of this course, I truly understand the material a high school student has to learn in astronomy to comprehend the subject.
